CCTV caught a driver, and their passenger unload a bath full of waste by a field entrance in Bury Lane, Epping. The footage, taken at approximately 2am on 3 July 2025, also showed the passenger throwing a sack and several loose items onto the ground before the vehicle drove away, leaving the waste behind.
Following an investigation, the owner of the vehicle was identified and issued with a fixed penalty notice (FPN) of £400.
Fly-tipping in a serious offence
“Fly-tipping is a serious offence that impacts communities and puts unnecessary strain on public resources.
“We take fly-tipping very seriously and do investigate each case that is reported to us. This incident shows the importance of CCTV and receiving those public reports of fly-tipping in tackling environmental crime and protecting our countryside.
“We urge residents to dispose of their waste responsibly and report any suspicious activity to Epping Forest District Council to help keep the whole of the district clean and safe.”
