SpeedWatch – Coming to a Road Near You

Nazeing Parish Council and Nazeing Together have launched a joint initiative aimed at curbing speeding in the village.

A team of 18 operatives will patrol our roads with the aim of drastically reducing the 60 people killed and 700 seriously injured on Essex roads in 2025.

In a trial run carried out at Bumbles Green this week, 12 vehicles were clocked doing over 40 mph in a 30mph zone. They will all receive warning letters from Essex Police, in the first instance.

Save Lives – Keep to the speed limit.

Remembering VE Day

This year marks the 81st anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The most lethal and devastating conflict in history, it touched every continent, involved millions of people and its legacy is still felt today. VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) takes place on Friday 8 May, marking the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

Today is a time not only for remembrance, but for gratitude.

As we mark this anniversary, let us do so with pride, humility, and a renewed commitment to peace.

Essex Library Service

We’re delighted once again to play a central role in the Essex Book Festival 2026, welcoming an inspiring range of authors into library spaces across the county throughout June. The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of libraries makes them ideal venues, particularly for those who may feel daunted by more traditional cultural spaces.

Summer Reading Challenge Volunteers

We’re looking for volunteers to help us run our annual Summer Reading Challenge, a fun activity that takes place through the summer break to encourage children to keep reading during the holidays. This year’s activity is all about music, and it’s called Read to the Beat.
