“Lest We Forget”
Today saw the opening ceremony of the Bumbles Green Playground and outdoor gym. Cllrs’ Holly Whitbread and Louise Mead, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, were present to officially open the new facilities, along with several Nazeing Parish Councillors.
The playground and gym were made possible by a grant from the Epping Forest Rural Prosperity Fund. Our thanks to Cllr Holly Whitbread who worked tirelessly to access the funds for Nazeing.
Children enjoyed the many special features including the accessible swings, slide, sensory boards and a ground level trampoline, as well as full outdoor gym equipment.
Highlights of the day included a free goody bag for the children, as well as games, sports, arts and crafts.
Event Organiser Cllr Elaine Thatcher from Nazeing Parish Council said ‘It was a delight to see so many children enjoying themselves, our thanks to Epping Forest Play in the Park team for ensuring everyone had a great day’.

CCTV caught a driver, and their passenger unload a bath full of waste by a field entrance in Bury Lane, Epping. The footage, taken at approximately 2am on 3 July 2025, also showed the passenger throwing a sack and several loose items onto the ground before the vehicle drove away, leaving the waste behind.
Following an investigation, the owner of the vehicle was identified and issued with a fixed penalty notice (FPN) of £400.
“Fly-tipping is a serious offence that impacts communities and puts unnecessary strain on public resources.
“We take fly-tipping very seriously and do investigate each case that is reported to us. This incident shows the importance of CCTV and receiving those public reports of fly-tipping in tackling environmental crime and protecting our countryside.
“We urge residents to dispose of their waste responsibly and report any suspicious activity to Epping Forest District Council to help keep the whole of the district clean and safe.”

Fly-tipping on forest land is managed by the City of London Corporation. This can be reported directly to the City of London Corporation.
